New York Fashion Week is always full of beauty looks that make us instantly want to take out our makeup brushes, prettiest eyeshadow palettes and liners, and get creating. While the nail art often takes second place compared to the makeup looks, this Spring/Summer 2020 season was full of manis that simply cannot be overlooked. We rounded them up, ahead, and break down how to get each look at home with only Essie products.

Kith

With artist Betina Goldstein leading the execution behind the manicure look for Kith’s NYFW SS20 show, the nails were simple, yet impactful. There were three looks showcased on the runway, but our favorite was the double-corner French manicure. “It's an edgy and modern twist on a classic concept,” says Goldstein.

Jeremy Scott

At Jeremy Scott’s SS20 runway show, nail artist Miss Pop created an eye-catching, intricate nail design using a variety of Essie polishes. Featuring geometric shapes, animal print and vivid colors, Miss Pop says, “We’re leaning into the wild side of the ’80s.”

Kate Spade New York

Not into nail art? That’s okay — Rita Remark created a stunning and classic manicure using single shades of Essie nail polish. The look was inspired by “life in the concrete jungle” and “trying to find nature somewhere amongst it,” she says.

For the Christian Siriano NYFW SS20 runway show, nail pro Julie Kandalec created a French mani with an unexpected twist. Kandalec calls the look “futuristic” and was inspired by the seafoam color palette of Siriano’s collection.

Tommy Hilfiger x Zendaya

Nothing says fall like a deep, moody manicure, and Naomi Yasuda for Essie agreed. At the Tommy Hilfiger x Zendaya runway show, the look was a berry-colored velvet, ’70s-inspired look. “For more depth and dimension, I layered a rich burgundy over a deep red,” Yasuda says.

Veronica Beard

For the Veronica Beard SS20 show, Remark played off of the Valley of the Dolls reference and the glamour of the ’60s with her nail creation. “It’s a whisper of color, rather than a scream, which aids in the delicacy of it,” says Remark. “It’s a girly look that can be worn by anyone with confidence.”
